"July home sales across Fairfax County were up 6.6 percent from the same month a year before, and while average sales prices remained down, the median price of all homes sold during the month was higher - and the number of days it took to sell homes declined significantly from 2008 figures."

A total of 1,484 properties changed hands across the county during the month, according to figures reported by Metropolitan Regional Information Systems Inc., the area’s multiple-listing service.
That’s up from 1,392 sales reported in July 2008.
