McLean is an unincorporated community located in Fairfax County in Northern Virginia. The community has a population of approximately 39,000 as of the 2000 census.
The heavily populated community is located between the George Washington Parkway and the Town of Vienna and is known for its many upscale homes as well as its shopping and upscale malls including the nearby Tysons Corner Center and the Tysons Galleria.
McLean is home to many diplomats, members of Congress and high-ranking federal government officials, entrepreneurs and service businesses partially attributable to its close location to Washington, D.C. The Central Intelligence Agency is located in McLean. Booz Allen Hamilton, Gannett, Freddie Mac, Capital One, and NVR are also headquartered in McLean. McLean is also the headquarters for USA Today and Mars, Incorporated.
Two public high schools, Langley High School and McLean High School, are located in McLean. Several private schools, ranging from pre-school to 12th grade, are located in McLean. They include: The Madeira School, The Potomac School, Langley School, Oakcrest School, and the Country Day School.
